Many people keep wondering, how to choose a hotel in Goa? Is it worth spending your savings on hotel alone? In this article, I want to share my observations on what to keep in mind while choosing a hotel in Goa.

The Beautiful Palolem Beach – Goa
We choose a holiday in the north Goa because we prefer a more active and rich holiday and the hotel is of less importance for us on a vacation. Our hotel Ticlo Resort was in Calangute which is located in North Goa. After reading a lot of information about Goa in general and a bunch of reviews about different hotels, I came to a conclusion that we do not want to stay in an expensive hotel.

In Goa, if you are tuned to its true spirit, you will become a citizen of the world, free from any boundaries and will lose your mind and soul into its essence. In this case, you will require a hotel only to keep your belongings, to sleep(well, not always) and taking shower. Therefore, I narrowed my options to two and three-star hotels.
Few Tips for choosing a Hotel in Goa

Usually, only breakfast should be taken in the hotel because in Goa you will find many options for food everywhere. At every few steps, you can find restaurants that serve tasty and inexpensive food so there is no point in tying yourself to the hotel restaurant. So a two-star hotel will be sufficient. The difference between two-star and three-star hotel will often be a variety of dishes available for breakfast and curtains in the bathroom.
I will explain, mostly in India, the bathrooms in the hotels are a shower place and a toilet bowl combined. There is no partition between the bath taking place and toilet. So we stayed at an inexpensive two-star hotel with good reviews. If you choose a hotel from reviews and photos then let it be a two-star hotel but check for cleanliness as well because the hotel has to be clean to be comfortable to stay in despite modest condition.
Choosing between the AC and Non-AC rooms

Another thing to keep in mind is choosing between the AC and Non-AC rooms offered by most of the hotels. You can go with the Non-AC rooms to save money because fans will do fine. We got a two-room suite which was pretty good with a bedroom and a small living room along with a refrigerator, a table and armchairs. If you feel hot in there, it’s better to get an AC room. The furniture of these rooms will seem quite old but it was clean. The staff of the accommodation was well-behaved, polite and friendly.
Restaurant & Food

The Hotel’s restaurant hosted different events everyday evening ranging from magic shows to karaoke singing competitions. It was a delight to be present at such time and enjoy the shows with tasty and inexpensive food.
Conclusion / My Review
People staying in the hotel ranged from Indian families, Europeans belonging to all age-group and a few Russians. The European retirees mostly prefer spending their whole day in the hotel and relax by the pool and at night they spent their time in the restaurant and bar. The British people were easily recognized at breakfast by their trait of reading a fresh issue of The Times and having coffee and eggs. The Indians also read newspapers at breakfast and this shows the influence of British traditions on Indians when it was a colony of Great Britain.
